Dr Lining (Arnold) Ju has been named a Eureka Prize finalist for Outstanding Early Career Researcher in recognition of his excellent scientific research, leadership and engagement.
Dr Ju is a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Thrombosis Group at the Heart Research Institute, affiliated with the Charles Perkins Centre and The University of Sydney’s School of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. His research has advanced our understanding of how ‘force-sensing’ proteins in the cardiovascular system trigger blood clotting.
Inspired by his discoveries in the mechanobiology field, Dr Ju has proposed novel therapies that efficiently prevent blood clots that lead to disease. This breakthrough will have life-saving implications for people with diabetes who cannot be treated with conventional anti-clotting drugs.
The Eureka Prizes are Australia’s most comprehensive national science awards, honouring excellence in research and innovation, leadership, science engagement, and school science.
